There are several methods for rigging Catfish Noodles. Varying bodies of water (Lake, River, Pond, Stream, etc.) have different noodle rigging styles best suited for catching catfish. Here at Catfish Noodles, LLC. we spend the majority of our time fishing and filming on the beautiful lakes of Virginia. Below is the best way to rig Catfish Noodles for lake fishing. Also see our lake rigging instructions video here
Fishing Line (20lbs. – 30lbs. preferred)
Egg Sinker (1/2oz. to 3/4oz. preferred)
Barrel Swivel (size 10 or bigger preferred)
Hook (2/0 Circle Hook preferred)
Step 1: You will need to determine what depth you want to fish and how deep you will want your bait to be presented. Once you have determined the desired depth, roll out the proper amount of line from the spool of fishing line, adding 6 to 12 inches for tying your fishing knots. Cut the line from the spool.
Step 2: Once the line has been cut from the spool, cut two (2) feet from the tag end off of the main line and place to the side. Do not discard as this will be needed for the liter end of the rig.
Step 3: Take one end of the main line and feed through the eyelet on the Catfish Noodle. Tie a clinch knot (see instructions) connecting the Catfish Noodle and main line. Cut tag end off.
Step 4: With the egg sinker in one hand, feed the opposite end of the main line through the egg sinker.
Step 5: With the main line in one hand, feed the main line through the eye of the swivel and tie a clinch knot (see instructions) connecting the main line to the swivel. Cut tag end off.
Step 6: With the liter line in one hand, feed the line through the eye on the swivel opposite of the knot installed for the main line. Tie a clinch knot (see instructions) connecting the liter line to the swivel. Cut tag end off.
Step 7: With the opposite end of the liter line in one hand, feed the line through the eye of the hook. Tie a clinch knot (see instructions). Cut tag end off. The rigging is now complete.
Step 8: With the Catfish Noodle in one hand, wind the main line, sinker, swivel, liter line, and hook up on the noodle. Insert point of the hook into the noodle for safety and transport.
